Gore is a town in western Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, United States. It is part of the Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 977 at the 2010 census, an increase of 15 percent from 850 at the 2000 census.
Gore is located at 35°31′58″N 95°06′54″W / 35.532851°N 95.115032°W / 35.532851; -95.115032. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 850 people, 368 households, and 257 families residing in the town. The population density was 372.4 people per square mile (143.9/km). There were 416 housing units at an average density of 182.3 per square mile (70.4/km). The racial makeup of the town was 68.59% White, 0.12% African American, 24.71% Native American, 0.12% from other races, and 6.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.82% of the population.
There were 368 households out of which 28.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% were married couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.9% were non-families. 26.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.78.
In the town, the population was spread out with 23.9% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 21.9% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females, there were 89.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.7 males.
